THE GALLERY AT ABERNATHY
The Gallery at Abernathy features exhibits of artwork from local artists. These exhibits are hung quarterly and are free and open to the public during normal business hours.
The Abernathy Arts Center parking lot is located at 6621 Bridgewood Valley Road, NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Please use this address for GPS directions.
Current Exhibit
The current exhibit features artwork from Atlanta resident Caroline Burnet and will be on display through August 15, 2026.
[INTER]/[DIS]CONNECTED
A collection of wall hangings, a disparate slip of folded paper encases each paperclip, which are then strung together in chains. The chains then hang in a series to collectively form an image.
A WOMAN’S WORDS
Inspired by Gestalt Theory, these ink drawings on vellum explore the holistic notion that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts in the collection’s modern homage to pointillism.
Past Exhibits
“Unexpected Reclamations”— artwork by artists Cathy Ehrler and Kathy Rennell Forbes—the show featuredmixed media work made with found and recycled materials. The exhibit closed on May 21st 2026.
“Emerging Artists of Sandy Springs” is an exhibition showcasing the talent, creativity, and unique perspectives of promising student artists by Abernathy Arts Center students and instructors, as well as local elementary, middle, and high school students. The artwork in this exhibit represents a diverse range of media, styles, and themes, reflecting the innovative spirit and fresh voices of the next generation of artists.
The exhibit provides a platform for these students to present their work to the community, offering a glimpse into the diverse array of thoughts, ideas, and emotions that drive their creative expression. Visitors can expect to see a dynamic collection that highlights the potential and skill of these burgeoning artists.
The exhibit ended on January 16th 2026.
Caminos Compartidos, a special exhibition in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, ended on October 30, 2025. This exhibition showcases the vibrant and diverse works of artists of Latin origin, celebrating the richness, depth, and cultural legacy of the Hispanic experience.
Through painting, sculpture, and ceramics, Caminos Partidos invites viewers to explore the stories, traditions, and contemporary voices that shape Latin identity. Each work reflects both shared heritage and unique personal journeys, offering a colorful and dynamic tribute to the creativity within the Hispanic community.

The Asian American Artists Society hosted the 2025 Invitational Art Exhibit from March 22nd to May 17th.
Multiple artists were featured in a variety of mediums including traditional watercolor artwork.
